About Us

The Mona Lisa of Tart PreparationBenedict’s Restaurant is dedicated to bringing the finest in savory dishes to our friends, family, neighbors, classmates, pets, roommates, acquaintances, and customers. We serve every dish steeped in tradition, and deglazed with love.

Our co-founder, José-Carlos Arnold (1743 – 1815), was the secret seventh son of Benedict Arnold III (father of the famous traitor of the American Revolutionary War). After José-Carlos’s brother Benedict betrayed the Continental Army and fled to London, José-Carlos decided to pursue the culinary arts in order to avoid being confused with his traitorous kin. There, he met and married famed German chef Sofia Ratzinger (1747 – 1822) and together they founded our restaurant, which proudly specializes in Anglo-Mediterranean cuisine from around the world.

Today, over 200 years later, Benedict’s Restaurant has cooked recipes featured in Gourmet Magazine, The New York Times, and The Professional Chef, and we are proud to be exploring new business oportunities in Upstate New York.
